After playing drums and keyboards in two different bands, I began working in a world-famous recording studio, the Village Recorder in Los Angeles, as an assistant recording engineer. There I met legendary songwriter Donald Fagen who invited me to New York to work as his recording engineer on "The Nightfly," for which I received a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Engineer.I was not long out of high school and this very unexpected break shifted the course of my young life dramatically, dropping me into the profound world of record production with extraordinary artsts who taught me so much. At this stage I began to see myself as a Sound Sculptor and became known for my interest in exploring "eclectic" recording concepts utiilizing the studio like an art experiment. (With the support of some very creative artsts, mind you). I never looked back, traveling between L.A. and New York for several years and working on projects with artists such as Laurie Anderson, Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, and Talking Heads, as well as on theatre projects such as The Gospel at Colonus that included The Five Blind Boys of Alabama. Later, I moved to London and stretched my wings into music production and performance. I worked extensively all throughout Europe on a variety of projects, from Iceland to Ireland, Basque Spain to Germany, with artists as diverse as Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Adrian Belew, Hossam Ramzy, and Tom Jones. It was after receiving numerous awards for recording projects, various magazine interviews spotlighting my work and a reputation as one of the finer sound engineers working, that I realized I truly wanted to pursue my original dream of creating with words and music, thus focusing full time as a blend of composer/artist/musician/sound sculptor/writer. I returned to Los Angeles and began formally working on a collection of music entitled "Songs from the Ashes." This enriching sabbatical and life's shift from my previous career in music production, allowed deeper exploration of a more personal creative expression, one that exists beyond the bounds of the production and technical aspects inside the business of the entertainment field. I am now doing my personal and collaborative music recordings in my home studio "Voice of the Silence Sound" and with creative outreach to my global posse via FTP, along with film composing, working on scores for film projects, documentaries, television and advertising, art installations, theater and visual music projects for DVD and live presentation. I am working with artists globally creating new music projects for DVD and CD/mp3. Some of the brill visual aritsts i have been able to work with recently are the visionary Kristina Faragher, John Banks, bay area artist Spot Dawes, the late Richard "Doc" Baily, and John Wadsworth. Additionally, I am still 'hitting the books' and now just months away from completing a Master's degree in Consciousness Studies at the University of Philosophical Research in Los Angeles. 2008 looks very promising with new work beginning composing "rad" music for the new film "Speed Racer" already begun. Just finished a film for Eyes of the World on meth use and abuse and had to go deep inside the many facets of that world musicaly. New Visual Music project starting with Brain Paint DVD, and G-Force. More on the horizon as we get into the year. Releases this winter for a new innovation "Musitations" Vol 1, the brill new meditation music approach I've composed for Max Simon's Get Self Centered global vision. Musitations create deep, meditation zones while using contemporary music approaches found in current gen Y music and groups like Massive Attack, Zero 7 and such like fender rhodes, hammond, trippy guitar, alt deconstruct cellos etc. The disk will be available now globally on GetSelfCentered website and Chopra Centers and other outlets and is getting very cool, positive response for taking meditation music to a new place. Musitations Vol 2 will begin in Feb. Finally the new "Loungeclash" disk I did with Sam and Neil in the UK, will be out in the US and Europe with great distribution, it's called "Dread Time Story". The new Durgas disk i've recorded/produced and performed on will be finishing for summer and my own first artist's release under my production umbrella "The Vision Seeds" wil be ready by summer too, it's called "Songs from the Ashes" Vol 1.. more 08' news to come and c3 events abounding. 2007 in brief began with an explosion of film work with twenty of my original music compositions being attached to the remarkable film "300". completed a beautiful film about the "Arts in Medicine" program called, "Healing Words" currently being considered for nationwide presentation on PBS for which i was able to compose and perform everything from "New Classical" to "World" to "Trip Hop" and "Ambient" music. The follow up film to "Healing Words" is about to begin. I have a new "Trance Exotica"recording coming out called "Loungclash"-"Dread Time Story" done with UK musical madmen Sam Dodson of "Loop Guru"/"Slipper" fame and Neil Sparkes of "Transglobal Underground"/"Temple of Sound" renown. I am looking to begin new film scoring work with Eric Mathies and his incredible Posse at Project Labs for whom i did the "300" music, "A Scanner Darkly" and "Dukes of Hazzard". Just finished composing for the new Neil Jordan/Jodie Foster film The Brave One, again via EMP for HBO/TIVO and DVD. Just completed composing a "New Edge" collection of deep meditation music pieces with Max Simon for his "Self Centered" Co. We're calling them "Musitations", watch out for those powerful nine minute "edge" journeys. New work being considered with UK via France Visual Artist Holly Warburton that would also be a composing vehicle for brilliant Multi-Phonic Chant singer David Hykes and I to collaborate musically.Looks like a film short art project coming with Visual Artist John Wadsworth to begin shortly and a newbie with artist John Banks on the Vis/Art/Club/Vj/DJ Dance tip. I am also looking to finish a first novel/music CD project called "Seven Roads and Seven Stars" with it's accompanying music disk called "Songs From the Ashes". This year I will be presenting several concert events/artist presentations/lecture series as a "Core" creative member of c3 the Center for Conscious Creativity along with Kate McCallum and Phillip Horvath who fortunately also double as my amazing management team via Bridge Arts Media. I will begin an ongoing monthly column about music, art, consciousness here soon. The column is called "The Uncarved Block". My production company is "All Turn Native" Productions, my studio is "Voice of the Silence Sound" where I continure to love sound sculpting and the mystical, creative, alchemical process. That's about it, you can also catch up with me "dr know" on the myspace site.... Peacout Within... and stay in touch... Noa |

Well it truly begins at the beginning. My mum tells a true story of how I would climb out of my crib early in the morning and crawl down a flight of stairs with my bottle and then over to my special corner of the house where I could be found playing DJ, spinning and listening to music every morning, by the next early-riser in the household. I got my first drum at age six and began the musician's journey.
